Radiological Studies on Lumbar Spondylolisthesis



Abstract
During two years from April 1978 to September 1979, it was investigated clinical and radio-logical findings on 40 cases lumbar spondylolisthesis.
Results were as follows
1) Female was more affected than male, The ratio of female to male was 4:1. The peak age incidence were between 40 to 50 years old, particularly degenerative spondylolisthesis.
2) The chief symptoms were lower back pain and radiating Iower leg pain.
3) The duration of illness was almostly from 1 year to 5 years.
4) Simple lumbar spine study of radiology revealed compatible findings of spondylolisthesis in most of cases. 19 cases of true spondylolisthesis and 21 cases of degenerative spondylolisthesis were found among the 40 cases.
5) The most common involvement of true spondylolisthesis was occure at the L5 and of degenerative spondylolitthesis was occure at the joints of L4-5 articulation.
6) The degree of displacement according to the Meyerding Classification was grade I in 36 cases, grade ff in 4 cases. One patient with double displacements had grade I lesions. Degenerative spondylolisthesis is never exceed grade I displacement.
